Thank you for visiting my site.  I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida (License #MH12737) a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Arizona (License #LPC23007) and a National Certified Counselor (#632984).  I received my Bachelors of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.  I additionaly received my Masters of Arts degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida.

Why I became a counselor is that I truly love working with individuals in helping them live the best life that they can.  We all want to be “happy.”  But, what does “happy” mean?  Does it mean that bad things never happen?  Well, of course not.  But we have the choice in how we allow these negative events to truly affect us.  Pain is inevitable . . . suffering is optional.

I also love helping individuals re-write the story of who they think they are.  Let’s face it, we all have our story.  I know that I did… We carry that story around and allow it to influence our choices and relationships in life.  The story that we carry around about ourselves and tell to ourselves is not true.  However, since that is the only story we have known, we believe it to be true.  Together, we can rewrite your story in a way that aligns with your true self and desired future.  This will also help in your overall healing, growth, relationships and choices in life.

I specialize in working with adults (ages 25+) who struggle with relationship problems, feelings of being overwhelmed, career, family matters, feelings of shame and unworthiness, anxiety/stress, depression and life transitions.

I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist.  Through EMDR, we can work together to address and heal from past traumas, enabling you to overcome emotional and psychological barriers.   Check out the EMDR page for more information.

I utilize numerous approaches when doing therapy in order to meet each client's needs.  I believe that the relationship between the counselor and the client is very important.  I feel that real change can begin in an environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves.  That is why I aim to create a safe environment where clients feel validated and understood.

I am a part of the team of great counselors at the Corrine Drive Counseling Center.  We are conveniently located 1/4 mile from Baldwin Park and just a few miles from Winter Park and Downtown Orlando.

I am truly excited to work with you in recognizing the choices that you have in life.  Thanks for stopping by!  I am looking forward to working with you!

Amee
